Privacy Policy

Summary
Papertap is built to work on your device. We do not ask for your name or email, we do not sell data, and the files you create in the app stay on your iPhone unless you choose to share them.
Data we collect
- Anonymous identifier: the app creates a random, anonymous user ID (via Firebase Authentication) so purchases and support requests can be matched to an install. It is not linked to your identity.
- Usage analytics: which screens and features are used, app version, device model, language, country, and coarse events like "onboarding completed". Collected through Firebase Analytics and used only to improve the app.
- Crash reports: technical information about crashes (Firebase Crashlytics).
- Purchase state: whether a subscription is active, managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment details.
Data that stays on your device
- Your scans, page images and PDFs (stored only on your iPhone; deleted when you delete them or uninstall)
- Signatures you draw (stored only on your iPhone)
- Text recognized from scans (OCR runs on the device; nothing is uploaded)
Permissions
- Camera: to scan documents. Requested only when you use that feature.
- Photos (picker only): to import images you choose as pages; Papertap never reads your library. Requested only when you use that feature.
Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — anonymous authentication, analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration (privacy policy)
- RevenueCat — subscription management (privacy policy)
- Apple — App Store payments and receipts (privacy policy)
Retention and deletion
You can erase everything the app stores, including the anonymous identifier, from Settings → Delete all data inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes local data. Aggregated analytics are retained by Firebase according to Google's retention settings (14 months by default).
Children
Papertap is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date above changes and the app will point to the new version.
